A group of WW2, 8th Army Medals for sale with original ribbons and box. The 8th Army Medals to Special Operator, Corporal Griffin, Royal Signals. The Medal group includes:

Africa Star with 8th Army Clasp

Italy Star

1939-1945 Star

1939-1945 medal

The Medals in typical, tan-coloured  box addressed to Mr S. J. Griffin, Burnley, Lancs.

The 8th Army Clasp in its original cellophane packet. In addition to the medals, the sale includes:

8th Army cloth sleeve patch

Royal Corps of Signals metal and enamel lapel badge

Africa ribbon bar

triple ribbon bar with, 1939-1945 ribbon

Africa ribbon with rosette (8th Army)

Italy ribbon

Paperwork with the group consists of:

Record of Service form (1941-1946)

Soldier's Service Book: the entries to the Service Book complete and  confirming entitlement to Africa Star dated 4.1.44, and 8th Army Clasp to Africa Star dated 1.1.45.

Griffin's Class 'A,' Royal Signal  Soldier's Release Book.

Condition report: The box and group of four medals in excellent to near mint condition. The cloth patch and ribbon bars show service use. The paperwork  in very good condition.

Note: Formerly an Articled Clerk/Accountant, Samuel James Griffin entered service with the Royal Signals in 1941. Griffin took initial examinations in wireless operation, and qualified as Operator W & L with entitlement to work with classified material. He concluded his career as a  qualified  'Special Operator.'

Additional notes: Griffin's Commanding Officer issued the following Conduct & Testimonial: 

Military Conduct: 'Exemplary.'

Testimonial: 'This NCO has, during his army career proved himself an exceedingly efficient, enthusiastic and reliable worker, and engages in an occupation which has demanded a high standard of intelligence and concentration. His cheerful disposition and his initiative have been an asset to his capabilities as an NCO.'
