Allgemeine-SS Officer Tunic | Prague SD | Under Heydrich.
Allgemeine-SS tunic for sale. The black, Allgemeine-SS tunic originally for an SS-Obersturmführer assigned to the 'SD' Sicherheitsdienst (Security Service) in Prague. The tunic most likely worn by one of Reinhard Heydrich's, 'Prague SD men.'
The important, Allgemeine-SS tunic is made from fine black tricot cloth, and is complete with aluminium 'Assmann-marked' buttons. The belt-supports to the reverse also bear full 'Assmann,' 'SS' & 'RZM' markings.
The 'SD' tunic retains its single epaulette with silver cords, collar patches with the typical 'SD' blank unit patch, and companion rank-patch, with three, RZM-style, aluminium pips, plus a single, black & silver brocade stripe.
A typical multi-construction wool brassard is sewn to the left sleeve, along with a fine quality hand-embroidered 'SD' diamond for officer ranks, and the usual 'SD' blank '7' strand cuff title. The tunic body is lined with typical fine black silk, the tunic sleeves lined in traditional 'tailor stripes.'
The SD tunic is privately tailored: the Prague tailor's label is stitched to the upper-inside pocket. Although the original owner details have faded, a 1938 date is just legible.
Condition report: The SD tunic shows light use overall, with a couple of moth nips present to the wool brassard.
