Imagine

Controlling the State of Texas in the USA, or the county of Surrey in England, the Normandy-region in France.

This was the extent of control one of Hitler's Gauleiters had between

1925-1945.

In 1934 there were just 32 Gau in Germany with one Gauleiter heading each area.

The rank of Gauleiter was subordinate only to the rank of Reichlseiter, and Adolf Hitler.

NSDAP Gauleiter rank brown shirt for sale, circa 1934. The brown shirt made in fine quality brown cotton. The shirt with red collar edge piping, and retaining the collar patches for the rank of Gauleiter, with full double golden wire oakleaves on red wool. The collar patch insignia  machine sewn into position. The collar with off-white bone, or early-plastic collar stiffeners.

The shirt retains a very high quality version of the NSDAP cotton armband. Possibly in keeping with the rank of Gauleiter, this armband is beautifully finished around the edge of the white roundel, and has a fully embroidered black swastika.

The brownshirt, with two pleated pockets, complete with all golden eagle/swastika buttons, along with NSDAP golden pebble finished belt retainers. There is provision for two awards to the left-hand pocket, along with loops for a long ribbon bar.  The brownshirt part-lined  with off white cotton cloth, and with an elaborate machine-woven tailors label with swastika logo.  In addition to the label is the RZM logo, along with relevant numbering.

Condition report: The brownshirt of high quality and free from any moth or damage. The shirt shows some general use, and this is evident to the collar and cuffs. The collar patch insignia with some light ageing to the golden oakleaves.

Notes: Less than fifty individuals held the rank of Gauleiter at the time this brown shirt was worn. Results from investigative photographic research may enable the medal loops, and their positioning to form the basis to deterimine - or attribute-  a name to the brownshirt.
