SS Dagger. Part- Rohm. 1933 Pattern.

An SS dagger for sale with  part-Röhm dedication. The 1933 pattern SS dagger made by Herder, Solingen, with nickel silver mounts throughout. The mounts with some age darkening, the ebony grip in very good to excellent condition (free from cracks or splits).

The Blade with the SS motto to the obverse and  part-Röhm dedication to the reverse. The Ernst Röhm name erased  from the blade (directly after the Röhm Putsch under order). The blade is  bright and has been heavily polished (possibly at the time the name was removed).

This particular SS dagger with the SS owner-number, '1403.' The owner-number engraved to the lower crossguard (a fairly typical characteristic for 'Röhm dedication daggers). The number  being  relatively low, and worthy of further research.

The scabbard is complete with the black leather hanging strap (clip spring broken) and a contemporary black painted finish, with approximately 90% finish remaining.

Condition report: Age darkening to all the nickel-silver mounts. grip free from cracks or chips (some slight dents to the reverse in one area). Blade showing a good polish, but no crossgrain, which was probably taken away with the removal of the Röhm name. The remaining dedication still clear. The Herder trademark still clear.  Scabbard free from dents and all screws present to the mounts. The bottom ball free from dents or damage. The scabbard with its original leather strap, and broken top clip.

Provenance: The SS dagger with  part-Röhm dedication was originally veteran-acquired by the USA-based collector, Don Woods. The dagger was initially offered for sale, (and sold) with Ulric of England in 1997. It is currently for sale on behalf of the owner.
