SS Officers Belt, Buckle & Crosstrap. '1938' Dated. Great Provenance.

An SS Officers belt, buckle & crosstrap for sale. The black leather SS belt is impressed to the tongue, 'SS 48/38 RZM.'  The belt with 60% of the original felt backing remaining, (the felt backing being optional and at additional cost).

Typical of these higher quality SS belts, a seperate leather strap arrangement was machined into the back with an adjustable leather 'D' ring to take the crosstrap spring-clip. The SS belt has a second, black leather 'D' ring  for attachment of the front of the crosstrap: both slides are also present.

The perfect aluminium SS officers buckle bears the four markings to the reverse, 'SS RZM 36/38 OLC', and remains crisp with all detail showing. The matching black leather crosstrap bears matching impressed markings to the leather, 'SS 48/38 RZM'. The belt, buckle & crosstrap in overall excellent condition.

Note: The 'Extra Quality' SS Officers belt & buckle is particularly rare.

Provenance: The belt, buckle & crosstrap were brought back to England in 1946 by 2036117 Corporal David Kauffman, Royal Artillery. In a letter of provenance included in the sale,  Kauffman confirms he returned to England from Germany with numerous 'souvenirs' including the belt, buckle & crosstrap.

On one occasion, while biletted with a German family in Benrith, (near Dusseldorf), Kauffman swapped 100 cigarettes with a German, hawking souvenirs to British Servicemen. In exchange he received the belt, buckle & crosstrap, a briefcase, plus pair of leather boots with spurs.
