The lock of the Duke's hair contained in a paper envelope (and the paper envelope in a 1960s box). The envelope with ink, hand-written dedication:

"Duke of Wellington - Hair cut off - May 1843 by J. Dimond."

Condition report: The envelope showing some light age, now fragile to the folds. The writing legible and fine. The lock of hair intact. Housed in a 1960s cardboard box.

Provenance: Ex-Glendinnings 1969. Purchased from Bohnams by the consigner in 2004.

Additional information: It is believed Dimond was the Duke of Wellington's barber.
