NSDAP Flag | Ortsgruppe Emden | Important History.
A German NSDAP Ortsgruppen flag for sale. The NSDAP flag for Emden, (the northern German seaport), shows all the elements of an early, 1930s flag including silver wire fringing, fine brown wool canton with blue silk border, and white, chain stitched wording, 'Emden.'
Typical for the earlier 1930s, the NSDAP Ortsgruppen flag, has a black, cotton-silk, static swastika charge, stitched to a white, cotton-silk, roundel and aluminium pole rings.
Condition report: The German flag is in excellent overall condition, free from mothing and stains. Two of the seven rings are missing.
Historical background: The NSDAP founded Ortsgruppe Emden in 1928.
Historical background to Emden: The German town and seaport of Emden is located at the mouth of the River Ems. Three German light cruisers were named after the town, two served in WW1, the third vessel saw action in WW2.
Emden was almost totally demolished during a Royal Air Force raid, (September 6th, 1944). It is believed, the Allies targeted the civilian population, as reprisal against the Luftwaffe raid on Coventry, England. The Royal Air Force destroyed more than 80% of the buildings, including most historic properties. The ship-yard remained untouched. It is extraordinary the NSDAP, Emden town-flag survived.
