A Napoleonic  badge for sale. The shako badge to the 89th Regiment of Foot.

The obverse with Egyptian sphinx sitting on base with relief word, 'EGYPT'. The reverse semi-hollow and with three fastening holes for attachment to the shako.

Size: 4cm x 3cm.

Condition report: Excavated condition. Some verdigris present.

Note: The 2nd Battalion, 89th Regiment of Foot fought throughout the Penninsular war, and at the Battle of Fuengirola. 

Provenance: Excavated at the location of the Battle of Fuengirola. Many other items were also excavated, including various buttons all to the 89th. Document outlining the finds included in the sale.
