An SS dagger for sale made by Robert Klaas, Solingen. The 1933 pattern, Geman SS dagger with a fine ebony grip, fitting perfecly into the solid nickel-silver upper and lower cross guards. The lower crossguard stamped with the gruppe mark 'I' (stamped on the horizontal). Grip with Runes eye (thick style Runes) and nickel-silver eagle & swastika.
The blade with typicall 'meine Ehre Heisst Treue' motto to the obverse, and the Robert Klaas maker-name and trademark cartouche to the reverse. The scabbard with anodised finish and solid nickel-silver upper and lower mounts.
Condition report: The grip free from cracks or splits and with a nice polished black finish (some minor dents present). Perfect fit between grip and crossguards, free from contraction. Perfect fit of Runes eye and eagle & swastika (slight enamel chipping to Runes eye). Blade free from any unsightly blemishes or pitting; the original crossgrain to the blade largely gone and scabbard runner marks very apparent. The motto remaining sharp, and much blackened infill remains. Likewise the maker designation sharp.
The blade appears to have had a broken point in the past, (professionally re-tipped), now leaving the length slightly shorter than its original manufacture length. The anodised scabbard retaining a good overall finish free from fading, major dents or other damage. The lacquer coat typically disappeared. All nickel-silver mounts in good order. The bottom ball is dented but remains in one piece. All screws present.
Note: The SS dagger is priced taking into account the re-tipping to the blade.
