Rarely encountered in todays market place are the 'cantine' photograph albums. This spectacular example belonged to a member of Hitler's elite Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler, and features the designation for the 2nd Sturm LSSAH to the cover, along with the SS Runes insignia. Originally belonging to SS Mann, Reinhold Brunns.

Typical  black pebble finished cantine album with large white embossed Runes and 2.Sturm, Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler designation. This important historical album was put together by SS Mann, Reinhold Brunns. Attached to 2.Sturm, he was largely involved in parade and security duties on the obersalzburg, and butlering within Hitler's Berghof. The album contains 118 largely notated photographs. Of the 118 photographs, 52 are uniform related shots, with others showing Brunns relaxing on the Obersalzburg, and swimming in the SS Obersalzburg barracks swimming pool. Photographs include various on the Obersalzburg, and the Berghof, SS chalets & barracks on the Obersalzburg, Goring's villa. SS men in the white butlering dress at Hitler's Berghof. Guard duties at the Reichkanzlei. A couple of 'stand out' photographs show one of Hitler together with his staff at the Berghof, and one of his staff.There is also a wine list from the famous Cafe Kgl Villa in Bertchesgaden (much frequented by SS men from the Obersalzburg. There are also various photographs of Brunns post-war in the 1960s.

Condition report: The album clean & fresh. Light use only.

Provenance: Acquired for the Meadway collection from the USA-based auction house, Conestoga Auction Co Inc in 2009. The auction was selling various lots from the estate of Brunns, which may mean that he emigrated to the USA at some point post-war. Plenty of research possibilities with this item.
