The Duke of Wellington engraving by R.Young after the iconic painting by Sir Thomas Lawrence.* Size with frame 21cm x 16cm (approximately). The frame to the engraving is possibly late Victorian and shows a  paper framers name-label to the reverse. The Duke of Wellington engraving in excellent condition with some light foxing to border, and facsimile Wellington signature to the base.

*By the time the Prince of Wales was made regent in 1814, Lawrence was acknowledged as the foremost portrait painter in the country. Through one of his sitters, Lord Charles Stewart, he met the Prince Regent who was to become his most important patron. As well as portraits of himself, the prince commissioned Lawrence to draw portraits of allied leaders including the Duke of Wellington, Field-Marshal von Blucher and Count Platov.
