Waterloo Medal for sale to Sergeant George Needham, 2nd Battalion, 69th Regiment of  Foot: the 69th, affectionately referred to as the Ups & Downs on account of the Regimental number '69.'

The Waterloo Medal is nicely toned and  bears the original steel clip and circular ring suspension. Overall very good to excellent condition. Needham is not listed  on the Waterloo Medal Roll, however he is named, under 'Sergeants,' on the 69th Pay Rolls.

Raised in 1803, the 2nd Battalion, 69th Regiment of Foot,  saw active service at The Battle of Waterloo. The Regiment helped to repulse the Imperial Guard near Hougoumont, at the height of battle, and by the end of the day suffered almost 50% casualties.

A scarce Waterloo Medal.
